Brazilia se confruntă cu cea mai gravă secetă din 1930, după ce resursele de apă au secat în trei din cele mai populate state ale țării. Deși țara se află în mijlocul sezonului ploios, precipitațiile lipsesc în cea mai mare parte a teritoriului, iar apa potabilă devine un lux.
